 Whenever you turn on the T.V. to American news channels, you see the uproar with Americans complaining about how much money there spending on their stimulus package. With anti government rhetoric and the forming of the Tea Party, you see the anger and frustration with the American people and there weak economy. As a Canadian, I love the U.S. and I love American’s and I hate seeing so much division.

Now there is one thing both sides should agree upon and that is when American’s went looking for used cars for sale, the Cash for Clunkers program was a huge success! This program contributed to sales of more than 680,000 vehicles sold in the summer of 2009. New car sales before the Cash for Clunkers program was signed in to policy was at a 40 year low. The program provided American’s with subsidies to replace their old beat up vehicles with new ones and reimbursing the car dealers with more fuel efficient vehicles.

American’s who were looking at buying used cars for sale at a reasonable rate, now had a better option to buy new because of this great program.  The auto industry was really hurting and sales of new vehicles were at 9 million units before this program went into action. Since the program ended last September, sales of new cars have increased by 2 million units for total of 11 million. These numbers have stayed there since the end of the program.

So not only did this type of stimulus package work, it boosted the sale of new and more efficient vehicles on the road today. This is one program I thought was no brainer and it worked great.
