Premier League Of Car Manufacturers Released

Motor Trader have just revealed the previous year’s car manufacturer winners and losers by putting them into a ‘Premier League’ depending on the past year growth rate. The results make interesting reading and let us see which manufacturers have triumphed, and which have failed.

Obviously the government-funded Scrappage Scheme has had a big impact on car sales over the previous year – and still is when you look at the results. The Scheme comes to an end on March 31st so it will clearly be interesting to see how this affects the ‘car Premier League’.

Just fewer than 20% of all the new cars registered during February were done through the Scrappage Scheme – demonstrating its importance.

So – the winners… clearly Kia have had a fantastic year as their sales increased by an incredible 536% on last year’s figures. This is thanks to their stylish and modern new model line-up which includes the likes of the <a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackPageview', '/outgoing/article_exit_link']);” href=”http://www.essexautogroup.com/kia”>Kia Ceed</a>. They’ve also introduced their new 7-year vehicle warranty which sends out an important brand message that they are serious about the quality and reliability of their vehicles.

Coming second is Hyundai who have also released a new model line-up and did particularly well in Scrappage Sales.  In third place was Renault who saw a 137% increase on vehicle sales compared to the same period last year.

Renault has done quite well with their new RenaultSport range which triumphed in the recent WhatCar awards.

The losers in this year’s awards include Land Rover who dropped out of the top 20 – even though they had a great sales period during the winter months.

We’ll wait and see how things change once the Scrappage Scheme is over – but it looks like there will be lots of happy car manufacturers out there!
